Neil Armstrong was an American astronaut who became the first man to walk on the moon, a feat only 12 men ever accomplished. Before he was an astronaut, Armstrong became a Navy pilot, the youngest in his squadron. As pilot in the Gemini 8 spacecraft, Armstrong saved it when it spun out of control after a docking procedure. The air and space museum in his hometown is named after him.
