George Bernard Shaw

Producing more than 52 plays and playlets during his lifetime, George Bernard Shaw is considered by critics to be one of the most accomplished British playwrights since Shakespeare.., Shaw was born in Ireland and studied music and art at the same time. At 16, he started to write reviews for Irish newspapers, but only one was ever accepted. Though he authored a few novels, Shaw became known for his plays, the first of which "Widower's Houses", was produced in 1892. His most well known works came to him later in life, namely "Candida", "Arms and the Man", "Heartbreak House" and "Back to Methuselah". His plays often examined the topics of marriage, parenthood, poverty and education. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1925.
