Albert Schweitzer

Albert Schweitzer was the son of a Lutheran pastor, who taught him to love music at an early age. But that was just part of his life's calling; Schweitzer is also a theologian, philosopher and physician who is most well known for his philosophical studies on the "reverence for life". In this regard, Schweitzer put forth the belief that the only thing we are sure of is that we live and want to go on living, and that all things are interdependent. The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1953, Schweitzer was a vocal opponent of nuclear power and testing and often spoke out about the dangers of nuclear proliferation.
