Andy Rooney has been a fixture of CBS's 60 Minutes for decades, delivering his wry and often controversial essays at the end of each show. He is a three-time Emmy Award winner and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Emmy as well. Rooney maintains that he is a writer who happens to be on television, having delivered more than 800 essays over the years. He has also written 13 books and numerous newspaper columns. These earned him the Ernie Pyle Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003, presented to him by the National Society of Newspaper Columnists. His first 60 Minutes appearance was in 1964.
