Both of these conditions could result in a serious loss of bass response.
Salt and sun can also take their toll. That is why UV protection is important so the plastics won't age, weaken and crack over time. Also, they will not discolor as readily as non UV protected materials. Stainless steel, powder coated aluminum and other corrosion resistant, watertight materials contribute to a long lasting product.
