Valentine's Day Quotes Good for Every Day

Valentine's Day is upon us! Are you excited? In a state of panic? Depressed? Here at great-quotes.com we're here to help, not just with love quotes, but because we care, we have some suggestions for making the day as successful as possible.
If it is true that "There is only one happiness in life--to love and be loved," as suggested by one of George Sand's love quotes (did you know he was a woman, by the way?), then we should be putting 100% into making our relationship the best it can be. I agree with this love quote by Robert Heinlein, "Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own." So here's Suggestion #1: Compliment him/her. Even if you don't mean it. "That dress looks fabulous on you" or "Thanks for buying my favorite beer" goes a long way toward making a person feel good about themselves - and you.
Albert Einstein was a genius in many things, not just science. One of his love quotes is, "Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love" brings us to Suggestion #2 - if you want your sweetie to know how you feel, write a little love note and put it in their purse/briefcase, lunchbox, or someplace surreptitious where they will eventually discover it. You can use a well-known love quote like "I love thee to the depth and breadth and height my soul can reach," so eloquently penned by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Or perhaps, "For you see, each day I love you more. Today more than yesterday and less than tomorrow," one of the great love quotes penned by Rosemonde Gerard. This suggestion is really great if you run out of time or are feeling a financial pinch.
Is there anything more romantic on Valentine's Day than a marriage proposal? If this is the year for this magical moment, remember Suggestion #3 - say the right thing.  Antoine de Saint-Exupery offers an excellent love quote for this situation, "Life has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other but in looking outward together in the same direction." Who could resist a big "thumbs up" to that? If your intended is a film buff, they may be interested to know that Judy Garland wrote a book of poems, which included love quotes such as, "For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul." Major swoon factor.
Mark Twain's summary: "Love: the irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired" reminds us that even if you aren't actually "in" a relationship, you can make someone feel wanted and loved. Suggestion #4 - bake something! My (unattached) teenage daughter will soon be consumed with making cookies, brownies, and chocolates for friends she cares about. No matter what age, everyone likes to be remembered - not just on Valentine's Day, but every day! Remember that, "To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world."
How about one of Sam Keen's love quotes, "You come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by seeing an imperfect person perfectly," may remind you how messy your lover's apartment always seems to be. Suggestion #5, arrange to have a house cleaner come to their place and tidy things up a bit - we can't all be Martha Stewart!

My apologies if your Valentine's Day will be spent alone. You may feel that, "Love is only a dirty trick played on us to achieve continuation of the species." as suggested by one of W. Somerset Maugham's love quotes. If this is the case, whatever you do, DON'T go to a bar or restaurant and watch lovers canoodling. Instead, see a funny movie or action film ... it's a great way to take your mind off the day and nobody will see you silently weeping in the dark.
Our last suggestion is from songwriter and musician Stephen Stills: "Love the one you're with." Happy Valentine's Day!
