Why is it that we as a people seem to never have any faith in ourselves to reach our goals and dreams? There almost seems to be something ingrained in the human psyche that is some sort of self-destruct mechanism that flips on when you start to get too close to reaching a goal or a dream. Something happens. Something snaps and the next thing you know you second-guess whether you can actually do what you think you can do and you end up setting yourself up for failure. In some cases you may even cause it.
It's time to put a stop to that practice. Instead of letting you fail, why not set yourself up for success. Well the use of motivational quotes may be just what you need.
In this article we are not going to focus on success, but rather on stopping the process of limiting yourself. You need to allow yourself to get past those pre-determined limits before you ever have a chance to succeed and motivational quotes may be able to help you do this.
First, let's look at a couple of motivational quotes that are in this category:
"If we all did the things we are capable of, we would astound ourselves." - Thomas Edison
"Energy and persistence conquer all things." - Benjamin Franklin
First, let's look at who wrote those quotes - Thomas Edison and Benjamin Franklin. Those are two of the best minds the world has known. They are also two of the minds that have made amazing changes to the world around them through the things they were willing to try and do. Why were they so great? Because they did not limit themselves. They always believed they could do more.
Now do not equate believing you can do more with not ever failing. I guarantee you both Franklin and Edison failed on a number of occasions. They both had a life full of trial and error in many of their endeavors, but they kept their determination strong and knew if they kept pushing forward they would be able to succeed.
Consider if Edison did not have the mindset he had that was filled with the kind of motivational quotes you saw above. Would he have still been able to invent the light bulb if he were not sure of himself and didn't believe he could do it and was not willing to push forward to succeed? Probably not. Likewise, without his determination to try time and time again, our country may not be the same as it is today. It's Ben Franklin who had a lot to do with helping to frame the US constitution. It didn’t go perfectly the first time. As a matter of fact there were many drafts of it that were tossed out time and time again, but he and the other founders of this country were determined that eventually they could succeed and kept pushing past the limits others set when they said 'you'll never begin your own country.'
This is the same type of determination you need to have when it comes to who you are and what you are capable of. For many people, they like this idea in theory, but as things get tough, they forget this and fall back into their old habits of failure. This is where motivational quotes come in handy. They can help you to keep on track and keep focused on accomplishing what you want or pushing ahead past limits that may have slowed or stopped you in the past.
